Brussels briefings

On 15 November 2023, as part of its new Brussels Briefing series, Eurofound held a face-to-face briefing on the different issues that can help tackle the root causes of the EU’s persistent gender pay gap with its own expert and MEP Maria Walsh.

More on the event: Brussels Briefing: Equal pay for women and men – It’s not just about the money

These briefings are a chance for stakeholders to access experts and policymakers in an informal setting.

EU presidencies

Every six months, an EU Member State takes on the presidency of the Council of the EU, helping to ensure the smooth running of the EU legislative process.

Eurofound collaborates with the rotating trio of presidencies of the Council of the EU, providing evidence-based knowledge and expertise at various levels, coordinating closely with Ministry colleagues in the Member States.

In line with the priorities of each presidency, Eurofound can provide valuable evidence from a range of its ongoing research topics linked to employment, social and work-related policies.

Visiting Eurofound

Eurofound operates a busy schedule of visits during the year to its offices and conference centre in Loughlinstown, Co. Dublin.

Among the many visits from various organisations to Eurofound in 2023, on 20 October, Eurofound welcomed a group of 20 journalists, press and advisors from Norway's largest employee organisation, LO Norway. The purpose of the visit was to connect with Eurofound and to gain more insights into our work, our role and audiences, and to get a flavour of some of the current key research topics.

On 16 August 2023, Eurofound welcomed a group of scholarship students from the Hans Böckler Foundation - Summer Academy.

The students were interested to learn more about Eurofound's mission, vision and role, as well as gain a deeper understanding of our research findings on working conditions and an overview of activities in industrial relations and social dialogue, including minimum wages across the EU.

The Hans Böckler Foundation is a member of the consortium representing Germany as part of the Network of Eurofound Correspondents.

Reaching out to our local community, on 12 October 2023, Eurofound had the pleasure of welcoming a group of members from Bray's University of the Third Age (U3A).

The purpose of the visit was to gain insights into Eurofound's work, our role and mission, and to get a flavour of some of the research topics that we cover. The group's mission is to promote and practice lifelong learning and active, creative, ageing for senior citizens in local communities.

'We found the presentations engrossing, sometimes surprising and highly informative and I hope that you could see how heartening it was to all of us to glimpse the work being conducted at Eurofound. It is reassuring to know that those who develop policies which affect us all have access to such meticulous and solid research and it is no small matter of pride that Eurofound is based in Ireland.'

Virtual Visits

As part of our Virtual Visits initiative, Eurofound organises exclusive online events
with its experts as part of our ongoing efforts to reach out to the national-level stakeholders and ensure widespread dissemination and dialogue with respect
to its research findings.

Four Virtual Visits took place in 2003: Malta, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden. In the photo opposite, on 10 November 2023 the participants in the Netherlands joined our experts to discuss the topic of job quality and tackling labour shortages.

More Virtual Visits are planned in a range of Member States in 2024.
